Our Editorial Standards

At MindJrnl, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of accuracy and integrity. Every piece of wellness content we publish is evidence-based, expert-reviewed, and regularly updated to reflect the latest research.

Our Mission

MindJrnl exists to make mental wellness accessible and understandable. We know that misinformation about mental health can cause real harm, which is why we invest heavily in ensuring everything we publish is trustworthy, current, and actionable.

Our editorial team combines clinical expertise with a passion for clear, compassionate communication. We believe that everyone deserves access to reliable wellness information -- presented in language that is easy to understand, without dumbing down the science.

We are committed to editorial independence. Our content recommendations are never influenced by advertisers, sponsors, or commercial partnerships. When we recommend a practice or technique, it is because the evidence supports it -- not because someone paid us to say so.

Research Standards

All health and wellness claims made in MindJrnl content are grounded in scientific evidence. We hold our content to these research standards:

  • Peer-reviewed sources: We cite studies published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Clinical Psychology, Mindfulness, and the American Journal of Psychiatry. We prioritize meta-analyses and systematic reviews when available.
  • Established guidelines: We reference clinical practice guidelines from recognized bodies including the American Psychological Association (APA), the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • Recency: We prefer studies published within the last five years. When citing older foundational research, we verify that the findings remain current and have not been contradicted by more recent work.
  • Transparency: When evidence is limited, preliminary, or mixed, we say so clearly. We never overstate the certainty of findings or present hypotheses as established facts.
  • No medical advice: Our content is educational and informational. We always encourage readers to consult a qualified healthcare professional for personal medical decisions.

Author Qualifications

Every author who contributes to MindJrnl holds relevant professional credentials and has demonstrated expertise in wellness, psychology, or a related discipline. We do not accept guest contributions that have not been vetted by our editorial team.

Our authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest, maintain active credentials where applicable, and participate in ongoing continuing education to stay current in their fields.

How We Create Content

01

Research

Every piece begins with thorough research. Our writers review peer-reviewed studies, clinical guidelines, and established wellness literature to ensure accuracy.

02

Write

Our credentialed authors draft content that is accessible, actionable, and grounded in evidence. We prioritize clarity without sacrificing scientific accuracy.

03

Expert Review

All health-related content is reviewed by a licensed professional -- a clinical psychologist, certified mindfulness instructor, or equivalent expert -- before publication.

04

Publish

After passing editorial and expert review, content is published with clear attribution, source citations, and a last-reviewed date for full transparency.

05

Update

We revisit published content on a regular cycle. When new research emerges or recommendations change, we update articles and note the revision date.

Review Process

Every piece of health-related content goes through a multi-stage review before it reaches our readers. This process is designed to catch errors, verify claims, and ensure that our content is both accurate and helpful.

Stage 1: Editorial Review

Our wellness editor reviews every article for clarity, tone, and readability. Content must be accessible to a general audience while maintaining scientific integrity. We check that all claims are properly sourced and that the article provides genuine value to readers.

Stage 2: Expert Review

A licensed professional reviews all health-related claims. For articles about psychology and mental health, our clinical psychologist Dr. James Miller verifies that claims align with current clinical understanding. For mindfulness and meditation content, our certified mindfulness instructor reviews for accuracy and safety.

Stage 3: Fact-Checking

We independently verify all statistics, study citations, and factual claims. Every hyperlink is checked. Every source is confirmed. If we cannot verify a claim, we remove it or clearly label it as anecdotal.

Stage 4: Ongoing Monitoring

After publication, we monitor for reader feedback and new research that may affect our content. Articles are reviewed at least annually, and more frequently when new evidence emerges in rapidly evolving areas.

Corrections Policy

Accuracy is our highest priority, but we are human. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and transparently.

  • Minor corrections: Typos, broken links, and minor factual clarifications are fixed promptly. The article date is updated to reflect the change.
  • Significant corrections: Substantive errors in health claims, study citations, or recommendations are corrected immediately. A correction note is added at the top of the article explaining what was changed and why.
  • Retractions: In the rare event that an article contains fundamentally flawed information, we retract it and publish an explanation. We notify readers who may have been affected.

If you believe any of our content contains an error, please contact our editorial team. We take every report seriously and typically respond within two business days.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial content is completely independent from our business operations. No advertiser, partner, or commercial relationship influences what we write, recommend, or publish.

MindJrnl does not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or affiliate commissions that could compromise the objectivity of our wellness advice. When we mention a product, service, or practice, it is because our editorial team believes it has merit -- not because we have a financial relationship with the provider.

Our revenue comes from our subscription plans. This model allows us to keep our editorial priorities aligned with our readers' best interests, not with the interests of advertisers.
